Development of critical logical thinking and its incidence on student academic performance: a multidisciplinary approach

The development of critical logical thinking has been recognized as an essential skill for the academic success of students in general. This type of thinking goes beyond the simple acquisition of knowledge to focus on the ability to analyze, evaluate and solve problems in a logical and reflective manner. In this context, education plays a vital role in the development of critical logical thinking. However, the effective development of this skill requires an interdisciplinary approach, transcending disciplinary barriers and taking advantage of different perspectives and orientations. Among the objectives of the study we can mention: To analyze the role of the subjects and their contribution in the development of critical-logical thinking, with a multidisciplinary approach; To study the type of methodological strategies that consolidate the development of critical-logical thinking aimed at improving the academic performance of students; and To implement didactic strategies that promote the development of critical-logical thinking aimed at improving multidisciplinary academic performance. In the methodology we used the quantitative method, descriptive research and an assessment scale to third year high school students of the "Pedro Carbo" Educational Unit to evaluate their level of critical logical thinking. Among the results and conclusions, it can be pointed out that the development of skills shows limitations in the level of logical-critical thinking in several key areas of high school students, which is a determining factor for poor academic performance. The test results yielded alarming information about critical thinking skills and competencies, which gives an overview of their ability to analyze, evaluate and solve problems in a logical and reflective manner. Finally, the development of critical logical thinking through appropriate methodological strategies facilitates the teaching-learning process. Communication, integration and direct and permanent participation of all subjects is of utmost importance in the learning process and unavoidable in the development of skills in academic training.
