Abstract

Alimony is an essential income for the support of children and adolescents, as long as they are minors and are studying until they are twenty-one years old or those who have some kind of physical or mental disability that makes it difficult or prevent you from surviving on your own. In the Multicompetent Judicial Units of Catamayo, Paltas and Chaguarama, Alimony Trials are received and processed and an increase in alimony debtors has been observed, despite having a legal body in Ecuador. The present investigation seeks to determine the causes for which the defendants incur and affect the delay in the payment of alimony to the alimony. A methodology with a mixed approach was used, based on a review of the existing literature; On the other hand, surveys were applied to families in the jurisdiction of the Cantons Catamayo, Paltas and Chaguarpamba, and to determine the incidence of alimony on their financial income. The results suggest that the incidence of alimony on the financial income of the families of Catamayo, Paltas and Chaguarpamba is significant. It was also possible to determine the main causes for which there is a delay in the payment of these, which has consequences such as deprivation of liberty, citizen rights and generating social concern.
